Esteban Murillo
About me...
Flamenco from the Heart, Between Tradition and Modernity

Born on 31 July 1995, in Charleroi, Belgium, Esteban Murillo was immersed in the world of flamenco from an early age. His grandfather, Paco Murillo, a Spanish miner who emigrated to Belgium, planted a deep love for this art form in his heart.

Over the years, Esteban has shared the stage with icons from the international flamenco scene, including Pedro Córdoba, Cristina Aguilera, Cristina Hall, Carlos Piñana, and many others. A highlight of his young career was performing as the opening act for Spanish singer Niña Pastori at the Cirque Royal in Brussels (2013).

In 2014, he released his debut album, Leyenda, a unique fusion of pop and flamenco. Collaborating with composers Giacomo Aronica and Silvano Macaluso, Esteban crafted a musical journey that captivated Belgian audiences for two years.
Four years later, he returned to the roots of flamenco with Mi Verdad (2018), a tribute to Andalusian poet Federico García Lorca, created in partnership with the talented guitarist Anthony Carrubba ‘El Carru’.

Beyond his music, Esteban expanded his horizons by collaborating with dance companies such as Federico Ordoñez’s (In-Puro) and Rubén Molina’s (Nuit flamenco: Acte II). He toured Europe and created shows like In the Footsteps of Paco (2019), which celebrated his grandfather and the poetic essence of flamenco.

His creative vision also led to the founding of LABO FLAMENCO (2020), an educational project developed in close collaboration with dancer Federico Ordoñez. This initiative, designed to make the fundamentals of flamenco communication accessible to dance enthusiasts, was highly successful and held in multiple cities, from Brussels to Lille.

In recent years, Esteban has continued to innovate. He toured with productions such as Vagamundo (La Guardia Flamenca), Dreaming Carmen (Irene Álvarez), ¡Flamenco! (Saïdjah "La Zambra") and Flamencolores (Jessica Achten). Meanwhile, he worked on his most personal album to date, Poeta (2023). This project delves into the deepest layers of his soul, staying true to tradition while connecting it to contemporary influences.

Today, Esteban continues to share his passion on Belgian and international stages. Whether performing in traditional tablaos or exploring modern artistic creations, he is constantly redefining flamenco. His upcoming album promises a captivating blend of classical melodies, traditional flamenco singing, and modern musical influences.

“Flamenco, for me, is not just music; it’s a way of life — a story I want to tell over and over again.”
